Lucas Robert Morton is a 16 year old storyteller from Vancouver Island, Canada. Growing up in the Pacific North West, Lucas was always entwined in nature. He would constantly be exploring the rugged beauty of mountain peaks, fast moving exhilaration of river banks, the mystical engulfment of twisting trees, and harmonious rumble of the ocean's waves. This all factored in to him developing the passions that he has today - and he gives a great deal of appreciation and credit for his work to the creative energy that his home surrounded him with.
Currently, Lucas produces creative stories through photography, writing, and editing. What sets him apart from the mass of talented photographers in the world today is not only his unique and visually intriguing images, but the pieces of writing and poetry that go along with them. These stories are all inspired by the image that they go along with, and could be fictional, depictions of the photo, designed to make people think on a deeper level about the world, nature, themselves, etc… There is both a vast diversity and a compelling similarity to his content and creative style that many find pleasing. His work is where he finds the most peace, energy, and awareness. Creating his art is almost like a form of meditation for him. He hopes that his stories and images will have a lasting impact on the world, cause some good to spark in his audience, and inspire others to follow their own passions.
One day, Lucas hopes to create content full time - exploring the world to learn more about topical issues, other cultures, and ecosystems; and get the opportunity to capture every corner of the world, telling the stories he finds there.
"OBLITERATED" A self portrait that I took and edited to reflect a feeling of being torn apart.
Why I Do What I Do
I am very thankful for having this creative outlet, and I am very thankful for the fun and enjoyment I get out of every aspect of it as well. But even more importantly, I am thankful for what it could be used for. Through my work, I hope to inspire more and more people to follow their dreams, to take risks, and go explore our world. I hope that my work inspires people to bring a sense of curiosity and care to our planet. I want my work to leave a positive mark in our world. When I pass away, I want to have left behind a legacy of creations and stories that people can connect with, pull inspiration from, and use to gain insight into important global issues. Another big reason why I create, take risks, and explore, also stems from one of my greatest fears. That fear of getting to the end of life, and still wondering, “what if?” “What if I had said this, what if I had done that, what if I had seized this opportunity, what if I had chased this dream?” No. I refuse to let that happen to me. And if I can help it, through my work, I will try and prevent it from happening to others as well. The end of your life should feel like the end of a good book. You feel accomplished, you feel like you’ve been on an amazing story, and you feel very curious for the next novel. So please, follow my advise! Take out your pencil, and start writing you’re next chapter. You're in complete control of what goes into this book, and remember, you’re the only reader, so the only person you need to worry about making happy is you.
